Goal
The goal is to create a workshop that increases knowledge on teen pregnancy prevention through comprehensive sexual health education. The workshop will teach participants how to advocate to a school district for comprehensive sexual health education policy.
Objectives
- Discuss the teen pregnancy rates in El Paso County
- Describe the implications of teen pregnancy on educational status, health, and job growth
- Describe the benefits of comprehensive sexual health education in schools
- Identify Texas Education Code requirements and perceptions for human sexuality instruction
- Identify components and responsibilities of a SHAC
- List the differences between advocating and lobbying
- Identify the components of the SHAC presentation
- Identify strategies to advocate
