Goal
The goal is to create a workshop that increases knowledge on teen pregnancy prevention through comprehensive sexual health education. The workshop will teach participants how to advocate to a school district for comprehensive sexual health education policy.

Objectives
  • Discuss the teen pregnancy rates in El Paso County
  • Describe the implications of teen pregnancy on educational status, health, and job growth
  • Describe the benefits of comprehensive sexual health education in schools
  • Identify Texas Education Code requirements and perceptions for human sexuality instruction
  • Identify components and responsibilities of a SHAC
  • List the differences between advocating and lobbying
  • Identify the components of the SHAC presentation
  • Identify strategies to advocate
